Matthew Kroenig

Matthew Kroenig is a distinguished academic and policy expert specializing in strategy and security. Currently serving as Commissioner on the Commission on the Strategic Posture of the United States for the US Congress since May 2022, Kroenig also holds the position of Vice President and Senior Director at the Atlantic Council's Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security since November 2013. Additionally, Kroenig contributes as a columnist for Foreign Policy and is a Professor and Associate Professor of Government at Georgetown University. Kroenig's experience includes advising the United States Department of Defense on nuclear and missile defense policy, as well as previous roles focusing on Middle Eastern defense policy and counterterrorism strategy. Educationally, Kroenig earned a PhD and Master's degree in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor's degree in History from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
