Chris Barry

Head Of Year - Grade 10 & PHE Teacher at Atlanta International School

Chris Barry has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Chris has held various roles in the education and sports industries. Currently, they are working as the IBEN Programme Leader at the International Baccalaureate since 2023. Prior to that, they served as the Head of Year - Grade 10 and PHE Teacher at Atlanta International School from 2022. In 2020, Chris founded Keep it Moving - CB Sports & Fitness, an organization focused on community-based and corporate sports and fitness events. Chris also worked as the Head of MYP PHE & Grade Level Leader - Grade 10 at WISS - The Western International School of Shanghai from 2017 to 2022. From 2015 to 2017, they held the position of MYP PHE Teacher & Head of Grade 10 at Atlanta International School. Chris also has experience as a BTEC Sports Course Leader & Lecturer at Sir George Monoux Sixth Form College from 2010 to 2015. Before that, they worked as the Learning & Accreditations Coordinator at Catch22 from 2009 to 2010, where they focused on youth development projects. Prior to their career in education, Chris served as an A-Level Sports Lecturer & Sports Coach at Lansdowne College from 2008 to 2009 and as a Curriculum Manager - Sports, Public Services and Fitness at College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London from 2005 to 2008. Chris'searlier experience includes working as a Global Project Manager at AC Nielsen from 2001 to 2004.

Chris Barry completed a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Sport Science & Health Science at Coventry University from 1997 to 2000. In 2004 to 2005, Barry obtained a Post-Compulsory Education PGCE from Oxford Brookes University. Finally, from 2020 to 2024, Barry pursued a Master of Arts (MA) in Educational Leadership & Management at the University of Bath. In addition, in 2023, Barry obtained the certification of Registered International Athletic Administrator from the NIAAA (National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association).
