Jim Pollock has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Jim began working as a Reporter and Researcher for the Asahi Shimbun in 1995 before transitioning to a Business Development Manager, Producer, and Editor for Microsoft Corp from 1997 to 2006. During their time at Microsoft, they successfully led monetization efforts for an online reference and education product, forging profitable partnerships with higher-education providers. Jim then served as the Director of Business Development for MSNBC.com, TODAY.com, and BreakingNews.com from 2006 to 2012. In this role, they were responsible for driving business growth and development for the news properties. Following their tenure at MSNBC.com, Jim joined NBC News Digital as the Director of Business Development in 2012, where they led various third-party partnership activities, resulting in significant cost savings for the company. In 2013, they founded their own consulting firm, emdash media, providing strategic consulting services to companies such as SpaceIt and Nameberry. Jim's most recent role was with The Associated Press, where they served as the Director of Major Accounts since July 2019, overseeing important client relationships.
Jim Pollock earned a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington, which they completed between 1986 and 1990. Jim later pursued an M.I.A. in International Finance at Columbia | SIPA from 1992 to 1994.
