Tommy Gonzalez is an experienced educational leader currently serving as Principal at Aspire Public Schools since July 2021, previously holding the position of Assistant Principal. With substantial prior experience at KIPP Public Schools Northern California, Tommy has excelled as a Teacher Induction Coach, where accomplishments include being the inaugural Teacher of the Year and leading initiatives resulting in significant academic gains among scholars. Tommy's teaching background encompasses roles as an ELA and Robotics Teacher, Teacher Mentor, and Regional ELA Grade Level Content Lead, with a notable emphasis on technology integration and student engagement. Earlier experience includes founding a fifth-grade program at Vincent Academy, teaching in the Oakland Unified School District, and contributing as an Executive Assistant with the City of Santa Barbara. Tommy holds a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Political Science from UC Santa Barbara.
