Amy Walker

Technology Director at Ashe County Schools

Amy Walker has extensive work experience in the field of technology and education. Amy started their career in 1996 as an Instructional Technology Facilitator at Ashe County High School, where they supported the digital teaching and learning environment. Amy also provided professional development opportunities county-wide. In 2008, Amy became the Technology Director at Ashe County Schools, overseeing instructional and technical technology programs while prioritizing online safety and network security. Currently, they are involved with NCLGISA, holding positions as the NCLGISA Business Partner Chair and the NCLGISA Board K-12 Chair. In the latter role, they represent K-12 professionals and serves on the StrikeTeam fighting cyber intrusions in local governments, K-12 schools, and community colleges.

Amy Walker began their education at Appalachian State University, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Teacher Education between 1987 and 1990. Amy continued their studies at the same university, earning a Master of Education degree in Educational/Instructional Technology from 1998 to 2001. Later, in 2015 and 2016, Amy pursued further education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and completed a program to become a Chief Technology Officer, receiving a CTCEO certification.
