John Tymann

John Tymann has extensive work experience in the cybersecurity and information security fields. John began their career as a Principal Consultant at Netigy in 1999 and later joined Greenwich Technology Partners as a Principal Consultant in 2001. In 2002, they became a Unified Communications Consultant at the Transportation Security Administration. The following year, Tymann worked at Fannie Mae as a Sr. Network Security Consultant until 2007. From 2002 to 2007, they also held the position of VP Technology Services at Layer8 Consulting, Inc. In 2007, Tymann became a Sr. Engineer (Contractor) at Cisco and Staging Facility Manager/Sr. Engineer at Conquest Technologies, Inc. In 2009, they joined Customs and Border Protection as a Network Security Architect (Contractor), while also taking on the role of Director, Security Engineering at Ashburn Consulting LLC. Since 2016, Tymann has served as the Director, CyberSecurity at Ashburn Consulting LLC. Additionally, they have worked as the Manager of Information Security Services (Contractor) for an undisclosed Federal client in the Financial Sector since 2013.

John Tymann obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech, where they studied from 1982 to 1987. In addition to their formal education, they have obtained various certifications throughout their career. These certifications include the ITIL Foundation Level from AXELOS Global Best Practice in April 2020, Certified Network Security Engineer (CNSE) 6.1 from Palo Alto Networks in December 2014, McAfee Network Defense Technical Professional and McAfee Risk and Compliance Technical Professional from Intel Security in August 2012, Accredited Configuration Engineer (ACE) 3.0, 6.0 from Palo Alto Networks in March 2011, Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) from EC-Council in February 2010, Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) from the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC2) in July 2009, and CyberArk Certified Defender, CyberArk Certified Sentry, and CyberArk Certified Trustee from CyberArk in 2019 and 2020.
