Sunil Patel, MD MBA, currently serves as the Chief Medical Officer at Ascension since January 2024. With extensive experience in internal medicine, Sunil Patel has been in private practice since June 1996. Sunil Patel has held various leadership roles, including Chair of the Department of Medicine at Franciscan Health from January 2020 to February 2024 and Physician Advisor at Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields from January 2016 to December 2020. Additional positions include President of the Medical Staff at Franciscan Health-Olympia Fields and Medical Director at Franciscan Alliance, Inc. Sunil Patel has also contributed to the academic field as a Teaching Faculty member at Midwestern University from January 2010 to December 2021. Prior roles include Chief Medical Officer at St. James Hospital & Health Centers and Hospice Medical Director at VITAS Healthcare. Sunil Patel holds a Doctor of Medicine from Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine, as well as an MBA from Benedictine University and a Bachelor of Science from Northwestern University.
