Earl Miller

Earl Miller recently retired as Director of Global Initiatives at MaRS Discovery District. In his eight-year career at MaRS, he led government relations work and strategic partnerships that helped build MaRS innovation brand and created business opportunities for its client technology ventures, domestically and internationally. In this role, he built key relationships with the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, the Toronto Region Board of Trade, Global Affairs Canada, Waterfront Toronto, the City of Toronto Department of Economic Development and Culture, and many international partners.

Prior to his role at MaRS, he worked as a city planner responsible for making urban spaces accessible, establishing workplace daycare centers, developing social housing, and engaging Toronto’s diverse communities. In the Ontario Public Service, he was Executive Coordinator of the Race Relations Directorate, Director of Employment Equity, and Director of the Centre for Leadership. In the private sector, he was a recognized expert in workplace diversity as a management consultant and Director of Diversity at Scotiabank. He also managed a bank branch with a sizable retail and small business portfolio. At Ryerson University, he was responsible for providing professional continuing education to all sectors.
