Larry Hermanson, PE, CEM, currently serves as a Thermal Decarbonization Engineer at Armstrong International, a position held since April 2023. Prior to this role, Larry was the Director of Energy Management at Michigan Technological University from November 2015 to April 2023. Larry's experience includes teaching Math and Science at Washington Island Schools from August 2012 to September 2015, and serving as a Visiting Scholar at NOAA in 2014, where research focused on black carbon deposition on snow, along with curriculum development. Additional experience encompasses a Visiting Scholar position at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in 2012, evaluating energy-efficient HVAC equipment and developing renewable energy curriculum. Larry's career began as a Mechanical Engineer at Copper Range Company (1994-1996), later working as an Engineer at Cliffs Natural Resources (1999-2006) and Project Manager at RC Mechanical (2006-2012). Educational achievements include a Bachelor of Education in Secondary Education and Teaching and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, both from Michigan Technological University.
