Many people are afraid of losing their independence as they age. At Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan (AAAWM), we believe that every senior should be able to remain happy, healthy, and at home. Our comprehensive services aim to provide older persons and persons with disabilities the independence and dignity they strive for while residing in an environment that is comfortable to them.

Who We Are and What We Do
Established in April of 1974, the AAAWM has helped countless adults live more productive lives by providing the tools and services needed to maintain independence. We are a non-profit organization that provides aging services, as well as information and assistance.

We plan, develop, oversee, and advocate for in-home senior care services to older adults, especially those with social and economic needs. Collaboration between nurses and social workers results in valuable in-home care plans that aim to keep seniors in their homes as they age. All services are provided with funding from local, state, and federal sources.

The Care Coordination Team at the Area Agency on Aging of Western Michigan is dedicated to assisting older adults and individuals with disabilities in accessing essential in-home care services. Comprising social workers, care managers, and community liaisons, the team develops personalized care plans, facilitates transitions to appropriate services, and advocates for clients' needs to promote independence and dignity in their daily lives. Through collaboration and quality assurance, they ensure that individuals receive the support necessary to thrive in their own homes.
