John Watson

Co-founder and Chairman at ArcScan

John Watson has over 40 years of work experience. John started their career in 1974 as Manager, High Energy Physics Projects at Acurex Corporation. In 1984, they became Project Manager at Astron Research and Engineering. In 1985, they were appointed President at Artec Associates Inc., where they managed the computational and experimental effort to develop a pulsed plasma MHD generator. In 1987, they co-founded and became EVP, Advanced Technology at Magnetic Pulse Inc., introducing pulsed power technology and advanced mathematical algorithms for induction and acoustic logging to the wire-line industry. In 1992, they co-founded and became EVP, Advanced Technology at Sunburst Excavation Inc., developing a proprietary non-explosive rock fragmentation technology. In 1995, they became Senior Technology Consultant at RailPower Technologies Corp., incorporating an automotive propulsion system into a new hybrid yard locomotive. John also became Director at JDW Associates in the same year. In 2004, they co-founded and became VP, Technology at Osum Oil Sands Corp. In 2009, they became Director, Technology & IP at RHT RailHaul Technologies Inc., designing and building highly configurable, self-powered, semi-autonomous, heavy haul freight rail cars. In 2007, they co-founded and became Chairman of ArcScan, Inc., further developing and marketing precision ultrasonic imaging system for ophthalmology.

John Watson completed their M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto in 1966, and their B.Sc. in Engineering Physics from the same university in 1965.
