Alex Druz

Director, Cell Process Development And Msat, Cell Product Sciences at Arcellx

Alex Druz has a strong background in cell process development and bioprocessing. Alex currently serves as the Director of Cell Process Development and MSAT at Arcellx, Inc., where they manage a team focused on developing GMP processes for clinical cell manufacturing. Alex also leads the team in generating empirical data to improve processes and develop process control strategies. Prior to this, Alex worked as a Senior Scientist at Arcellx, providing process development support for T cell therapy products.

Before joining Arcellx, Alex worked as a Staff Scientist at Advanced BioScience Laboratories, where they developed robust and scalable mammalian cell culture processes for the production of recombinant proteins and viral candidates. Alex'sresponsibilities included optimizing and scaling up batch, fed-batch, and continuous processes, as well as evaluating different cell culture media and feeding strategies. Alex also contributed to the development and characterization of mammalian cell lines for GMP manufacturing.

Earlier in their career, Alex worked at the National Institutes of Health, first as a Post-Doctoral Research Scientist and later as a Protein Production Scientist. In these roles, they gained experience in large and small-scale protein expression, immunogen testing, and DNA vector manipulation for molecular/structural biology projects. Alex also expressed and purified viral glycoproteins, antibodies, and virus-like particles using mammalian expression systems.

Overall, Alex Druz's work experience demonstrates their expertise in cell process development, bioprocessing, and protein expression.

Alex Druz earned a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware, which they attended from 2006 to 2008. Alex then pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University, completing the program from 2008 to 2012.
