As a Laboratory Technician at the Medical College of Ohio, Nancy practiced “hamburger chemistry”, supplying bulk purified proteins to biochemistry and pharmacology research labs. The University of Toledo provided her research technician positions from developmental parasitology to maize genetics. ‘The perfect job’ was found first at Assay Designs and then when founding Arbor Assays. The challenge and frustration of developing assays and honing her bench and technical support skills were exceptionally rewarding. Since stepping out of the lab, she continues to contribute – as an ethical foundation of the company that has allowed her to give back as an Adjunct Instructor at Estrella Mountain Community College, where she teaches Microbiology and Biology for Majors. She has been fortunate to work with people with the skills, foresight, and consideration to take companies into the competitive biotech arena and the kindness to allow her to come along for the ride.
