Michelle Nelson has extensive experience in the biomedical field, currently serving as Director at Aptevo Therapeutics Inc since August 2017, following roles as Associate Director, Principal Scientist, and Senior Scientist. Previously, Michelle worked at the Medical University of South Carolina from July 2011 to August 2017 as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Scholar, where leadership positions included President and Vice President of the Postdoctoral Association and committee membership for various research awards. Prior to this, Michelle was a Postdoctoral Fellow at the American Cancer Society from January 2013 to December 2015 and completed a PhD in Basic Biomedical Science at The University of Texas Medical Branch, where research focused on CD8+ T cell responses. An earlier research associate role was held at AVI BioPharma from 2001 to 2005, and an undergraduate degree in Natural Science was obtained from Western Oregon University.
