Byung Uck KIM has worked as a software engineer since 2004, starting with Samsung Electronics as a Senior Software Engineer. In 2007, they became a Postdoctoral Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, conducting research on data-driven mesh deformation, skinning and animation, level-of-detail rendering and geometry image, and GPU computing. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Senior Research Scientist at the Institute for Infocomm Research, A*STAR, where they worked on Virtual Dressing Room system, example-based wrinkle generation for cloth animation, and used C++, OpenGL, and OpenCV. From 2014 to 2018, they were a Principal Software Engineer and Research Scientist at Dreamize Inc., where they worked on deep reinforcement learning based solutions for job-shop problems, developed state representations using convolutional and recurrent neural networks, and developed a cost-based greedy search algorithm. Since 2020, they have been an Engineering at Applied Intuition.
Byung Uck KIM has an education history that includes a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Computer Science from Yonsei University from 1998 to 2004, a Master's Degree in Computer Science from Yonsei University from 1996 to 1998, and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Yonsei University from 1992 to 1996. Byung Uck has also obtained additional certifications, including a TensorFlow in Practice (4 Courses Specialization) from Coursera in November 2019, a Self-Driving Cars (4 Courses Specialization) from Coursera in August 2019, an Applied Data Science with Python (5 Courses Specialization) from Coursera in February 2019, a Self-Driving Car Engineer (Nanodegree) from Udacity in February 2019, and a Deep Learning (5 Courses Specialization) from Coursera in February 2018.
