Sisi Chen is a seasoned expert in bioengineering and gene therapy, currently serving as the Sr. Director of Platform Technologies at Apertura Gene Therapy since January 2023, where the focus is on developing advanced AAV capsids and regulatory elements to combat genetic diseases. Previously, Sisi held the position of Director at the Single Cell Sequencing Center at Caltech from October 2017 to March 2023, overseeing the development of multiplexing and computational tools for single-cell genomics, securing over $1M in research funding, and fostering impactful research collaboration. Sisi's early experience includes postdoctoral research at UCSF Medical Center and the University of California, highlighting expertise in stem cell differentiation and advanced cellular methodologies. Sisi earned a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of California, Berkeley, alongside degrees in Electrical Engineering and Engineering from MIT and the University of Cambridge, respectively.
