Matthew Sherman

Associate Director Of Global Learning & Development at APCO Worldwide

Matthew Sherman, PhD, has extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Matthew is currently an Associate Director of Global Learning & Development at APCO Worldwide. Prior to this, they served as a Commissioner at the Hagerstown Historic District Commission.

From 2020 to 2022, Matthew held multiple positions at Lidl US, including Senior HR Specialist - Talent Management, HR Specialist - Talent Management, and Administrative Assistant - Talent Management.

In 2020, they worked as an Instructor at Emory University. Before that, from 2016 to 2020, Matthew held the position of Instructor at The University of Texas at Austin. During this time, they also served as the Coordinator of German, overseeing the teaching efforts and outcomes of 10 sections and leading a diverse team of professors and graduate students.

Matthew gained experience in project management and editorial work as an Editorial Assistant at German Studies Review from 2019 to 2020. Matthew also worked as an Instructor at Inside Literature in 2018 and at Michigan State University from 2009 to 2012. In addition, they served as an Instructor at Fulbright Austria from 2011 to 2012 and as a Study Abroad Coordinator at Stetson University from 2007 to 2009. Dr. Sherman has a strong background in teaching, curriculum design, assessment, and educational outreach.

Matthew Sherman, PhD has a strong educational background in literature and language studies. Matthew earned their Bachelor of Arts degree in German Studies from Stetson University in 2009. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in German Studies at Michigan State University from 2009 to 2011. In 2013, Matthew obtained a Master's degree in Modern Languages from the University of Oxford.

Continuing their academic journey, Matthew went on to complete a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Central European Literature and Intellectual History at The University of Texas at Austin from 2014 to 2020. During their time at the university, they also obtained additional certifications such as an Inclusive Classrooms Leadership Certificate in September 2016 and an Inclusive Classrooms Facilitator Certificate in February 2017.

In August 2021, Matthew obtained their Insights Discovery Client Practitioner certification from Insights.
