Dr. Rahul Sharma has an extensive work experience in various roles and industries. In 2009, they started their career as a JRF at Jawaharlal Nehru University, where they focused on analyzing Small-RNA Illumina Data and building NGS data analysis workflows. In 2011, they joined Goethe University as a Ph.D. student, where they worked on genome assemblies and functional annotations using RNA-Seq. After completing their Ph.D., they continued at Goethe University as a Bioinformatics Postdoc, conducting analyses on RNA-Seq data and building data analysis pipelines. Dr. Sharma then became a Bioinformatics Scientist at Goethe University, specializing in analyzing Big biological data and building Exome, RNA-Seq, and Ribo-Seq NGS data analysis pipelines.
In 2019, Dr. Sharma took on the role of Founder and CEO at Aomics GmbH, where they led the development of personalized medicine products. Dr. Rahul also served as the Head of Big Data and AI at Genome Biologics, where they led a team in designing machine learning algorithms for the analysis of biological datasets. In 2020, they joined the healthcare industry as a Chief Information Officer. Dr. Sharma's most recent role is as Founder and CEO at OCOBT Therapeutics, which they began in 2022. Throughout their career, they have accumulated a wealth of experience in bioinformatics, genomics, and personalized medicine.
Dr. Rahul Sharma obtained their education in the field of Bioinformatics. Dr. Rahul completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc. Hons.) from Panjab University, from 2004 to 2007. Dr. Rahul then pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Bioinformatics from Guru Nanak Dev University, from 2007 to 2009. Dr. Sharma further continued their academic journey and obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioinformatics from Goethe University Frankfurt, from 2011 to 2016. In addition to their formal education, Dr. Rahul Sharma has also obtained several certifications, including "Introduction to Data Science in Python" and "Machine Learning" from Coursera, obtained in April 2018, as well as "Blockchain in Healthcare: The Complete Guide" from Udemy, obtained in September 2020.
