Margarita received her BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida, where she applied diffusion MRI to investigate the role of the brain stem in brain injury and sleep disorders. Margarita went on to obtain her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Stanford University, where her research in the Bo Wang lab focused on the development of open-source gene screening platforms for rare single-cell capture in non-model organisms using microfluidics and custom sequencing assays. She was recognized as a Siebel Scholar and Bio-X SIGF Fellow for applying these techniques to study the cellular basis for neural regeneration in flatworms. Margarita joined Ansa in November of 2021 as a Systems Integration Scientist, where she will continue to develop platforms for enzymatic DNA synthesis at scale.
