Wouter Niehaus is an experienced mining professional with a strong background in underground operations and management. Currently serving as the Underground Mine Manager at Anglo American since July 2018, Wouter also holds the position of Director at CWN Mining Services and operates as a self-employed Underground Mine Manager since October 2017. Prior roles include Underground Mine Manager and Production Manager at Rio Tinto from July 2015 to September 2017, and Mine Manager at Peabody Energy from 2011 to June 2015. Wouter began a career in mining as a Mining Engineer at Anglo Coal in 2001 and holds a Bachelor's degree in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the University of Pretoria, obtained between 1994 and 1999.
