Phil Newman is an experienced professional in the mining and environmental sectors, currently serving as the Lead Tailings Innovation at Anglo American since January 2015, where additional roles include Head of Innovation and Head of Technology Open Forum - Sustainability. Prior to this, Phil Newman held the position of Chief Executive Officer at CRU Consulting from October 2006 to December 2014, leading the consulting division and providing strategic advice on mining, metals, and fertilizer markets. Phil Newman also worked as a Principal at Golder Associates from August 1996 to October 2006 and served as Chief Engineer at Comtec UK - Reinforced Soil Specialists from September 1993 to July 1996. An alumnus of McGill University, Phil Newman earned a Master of Engineering in Mining Engineering, and also holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Physics from the University of Southampton.
