Allan Thornby has extensive work experience in the fishing industry. Allan began their career at Ashford Tackle Ltd in 1998, where they served as a Manager until 2011. Allan then joined Angling Direct Ltd as a Manager and worked there until 2016. From 2016 to 2020, Allan Thornby worked at Angling Direct PLC in various roles, including Retail Operations Manager and Area Manager. Since December 2020, they have been serving as the Head of Compliance at Angling Direct PLC.

Allan Thornby attended The Norton Knatchbull from 1991 to 1998, where they pursued A Level studies. During their time at the school, they focused on subjects such as Maths, Physics, and CDT (Design and Technology).
