Annie Murphy Karabell is a Professorial Lecturer at American University since January 2017, teaching courses such as Foundations of Reading Development and Reading Science for School and Systems Leaders. Additionally, Annie has experience as an Adjunct Instructor and has held positions as Lead Faculty & Program Manager, focusing on program development and workshops for secondary special education teachers. Previous roles include Writing & Literacy Specialist at The Writing Room, High School English Teacher at The Lab School of Washington and Alexandria City Public Schools, Creative Writing Instructor at Georgetown University, and Adult Education Instructor at Academy of Hope Adult PCS. Annie holds a PhD in Special Education and Teaching from the University of Maryland, an MA in English from Georgetown University, and a BA in English, Education, and Religion from Wake Forest University.
