Lawan McFerren, CMP, currently serves as Meetings Manager for Governance and Special Projects at the American Psychological Association, a position held since October 2024. Prior experience includes significant leadership roles at the American Society of Civil Engineers, where Lawan managed SEI conferences and events, and at George Washington University as Manager of Employer Programs. Additional experience encompasses catering sales management at The National Conference Center, event coordination at the No. Virginia Regional Park Authority, and advertising coordination at both the National Geographic Society and USA Today. Lawan holds a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from the University of Maryland College Park, completed in 1990.
