Melissa Chivis, LMSW, ADS, is an experienced behavioral health professional with a strong background in providing outpatient clinical treatment services to the urban Native American community in Michigan. Currently employed as a Behavioral Health Therapist and formerly a Behavioral Health Specialist at American Indian Health & Family Services since February 2016, Melissa has also worked as a Behavioral Health Clinician for the Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi from September 2013 to May 2015. Melissa has expertise in addressing a range of behavioral health issues, including substance abuse, mental illness, dual-diagnosis, and trauma. Melissa's educational background includes multiple degrees from Grand Valley State University, culminating in a Master of Social Work, and an Associate of Arts and Sciences from Grand Rapids Community College.
