Melissa Buffalo

Chief Executive Officer at American Indian Cancer Foundation

Melissa Buffalo has a diverse work experience spanning multiple organizations and roles. Melissa is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer for the American Indian Cancer Foundation since June 2021, previously holding the position of Interim Chief Executive Officer from January 2021 to June 2021. Melissa also worked as the Deputy Director for the same organization from January 2020 to June 2021, where they contributed to cancer equity management. Prior to that, they were a Cancer Equity Manager at the American Indian Cancer Foundation from April 2019 to January 2020.

Melissa gained experience as an Intern at the Indian Land Tenure Foundation in 2005. Melissa's earliest work experience was as a Student Personnel Worker at the University of Minnesota, where they provided support and cultural programming to students from an unspecified date in 1997 to 2003. Melissa was also a student at the University of Minnesota during that time.

Melissa Buffalo received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Psychology and American Indian Studies from the University of Minnesota, where they attended from 1997 to 2002. Melissa later pursued a Master's degree in Family and Child Studies at South Dakota State University from 2004 to 2011.
