Sloan Garner has extensive work experience with the American Heart Association. Sloan started in 2008 as a Sr. Director of Marketing & Communications, then advanced to Vice President of Marketing and Communications in 2009. In 2012, they became the Regional Vice President for the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, a position they held until 2018. From 2018 onwards, they worked as a Marketing and Communications Consultant for the Mid-Atlantic Affiliate. Lastly, in 2019, they became the Regional Vice President of Communications for the American Heart Association.

Sloan Garner obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in English Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1991 to 1995. Prior to that, Garner attended Apex High School, although no specific dates or degrees were provided.
