Alissa White

New England Deputy Director at American Farmland Trust

Alissa White, PhD, serves as the New England Deputy Director for American Farmland Trust since September 2022, having previously held the role of Senior Manager for Climate and Agriculture. Prior to this, Alissa White contributed significantly to research and academia at the University of Vermont, where roles included Postdoctoral Research Associate focused on soil health and ecosystem services, and Ecosystem Services from Agriculture Research Assistant. Alissa White's experience encompasses project management and leadership in various agricultural and environmental initiatives, including the Vermont Payment for Ecosystem Services and the New England Adaptation Survey. Educational credentials include a PhD and a Master's degree in Plant and Soil Science from the University of Vermont, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Agroecology and Sustainable Agriculture from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Alissa White's background in ecological landscape design and teaching further complements a strong commitment to sustainable agricultural practices and climate resilience.
