Ashby Herman has a diverse work experience in the fitness and finance industries. Ashby started their career as a Sales and Retention Manager at Capital One from 1998 to 2006. Ashby then worked as a Physical Therapy Technician at Pivot Physical Therapy (formerly Tidewater Physical Therapy) from 2006 to 2009, where they monitored and facilitated patient exercise programs. Ashby later joined American Family Fitness in 2009, initially as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Staff member, before taking on the role of Assistant General Manager, Sales Manager, and Membership Director in 2012. At American Family Fitness, Ashby excelled in sales, achieved the highest gross sales at their club location for four of the last five years, and was the top sales performer for all club locations in 2017.

Ashby Herman graduated from Virginia Tech in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Exercise Physiology. After completing their undergraduate education, Ashby attended Virginia Commonwealth University for continuing education. They also attended Virginia Tech's Pamplin College of Business, although no degree or field of study was specified for this period.
