Krista Coons is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in global merchant services and intellectual property law. Currently serving as Vice President and Group Counsel at American Express since August 2015, Krista leads a team providing legal support across multiple business units, focusing on third-party acquiring and payment facilitator programs. Previous roles at American Express include Vice President and Sr. Counsel, where Krista managed legal support for merchant pricing and marketing, and Global Merchant Services Counsel, providing strategic legal advice to key merchant relationships. Prior to joining American Express, Krista worked as a Technology and IP Transactions Attorney at Venable LLP, Content Protection Counsel at the Motion Picture Association of America, and as an Associate at DLA Piper. Krista holds a J.D. from American University Washington College of Law and a B.A. in History and Political Science from UCLA.
