Gary Schmitt is a Resident Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, a position held since 2005. Prior to this, Gary served as the Executive Director of the Project for the New American Century from 1997 to 2005 and held the role of Executive Director at the President's Foreign Intelligence Advisory Board within the White House from 1984 to 1988. Gary also worked as the Minority Staff Director for the United States Senate Select Committee on Intelligence from 1981 to 1984. Education achievements include a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science from the University of Chicago and a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from The University of Dallas, in addition to early education at St. Anthony's Jr Seminary and St. Paul the Apostle.
