Michael Fiandalo, PhD, MBA, PMP, LSSGB has extensive work experience in project management, research, and oncology. Michael currently holds the position of Assistant Director of Project Management at the American Association for Cancer Research. In this role, they manage day-to-day operations and ensures the delivery of clinical-genomic data for cancer cohorts. Michael has also created schedules, workflows, and conducted risk analysis while managing stakeholder expectations.

Previously, Michael worked at Genentech as a Senior Research Project Manager, where they established project management infrastructure and standards. Michael collaborated with stakeholders, developed scope requirements, and negotiated schedules and task completion with functional managers to meet deadlines.

Before that, they worked at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, where they served as a Research Regulatory Coordinator, Instructor of Oncology, Affiliate Member, and Principal Investigator. In these roles, they managed project coordination, conducted research, and provided instruction in oncology.

Michael began their career at the University of Kentucky as a Graduate Student Research Assistant. Michael conceptualized, planned, and performed laboratory experiments, authored research articles, and presented completed work at conferences.

Michael Fiandalo received a high school diploma from East Leyden High School in 1998 and completed their elementary education at Rhodes Elementary from 1985 to 1994. Michael then pursued higher education at the University of Kentucky, where they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry from 2007 to 2012. In 2018, Michael enrolled in Canisius College and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in 2020. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including a Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification from the Project Management Institute in November 2020, and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification from Emory Continuing Education in May 2023. Furthermore, they have acquired additional certifications in areas such as emotional intelligence, critical thinking and problem-solving, and agile hybrid project management.
