Mary Purvis

Manager, Education & Meetings at American Anthropological Association

Mary Purvis currently serves as the Manager of Education & Meetings at the American Anthropological Association, responsible for overseeing all program production aspects of the annual academic meeting, including managing the peer review process and speaker logistics. Prior to this role, Mary worked as a Human Service Worker for Fairfax County Government, facilitating access to needs-based programs for residents. Mary has a diverse background that includes administrative and marketing roles with various organizations such as MBO Partners, the Brain Injury Association of America, and the National Parks Conservation Association. Mary also has experience in education, having worked as a substitute teacher and in professional education and training coordination with GMAC. Mary's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Oregon State University and is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Social Work at Virginia Commonwealth University.
