Robert Dirk Cooper has extensive work experience in the aviation and defense industry. Robert Dirk has held various leadership roles, including Vice President of Business Development at Amentum and Senior Director of Business Development for Navy and Marine Corps Programs at Amentum/DynCorp International. Previously, they served as Chief of Staff at HQMC, Deputy Commandant for Aviation and as Expeditionary Air Warfare Branch Head at the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations. Robert Dirk has also served as Commanding Officer for Marine Aircraft Group 31 and Marine Fighter Training Squadron 401. Additionally, they have held positions at Tactical Air Command Center, 2d Marine Aircraft Wing (Forward), U.S Air Forces Central Command, and U.S. Navy Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN). Throughout their career, they have demonstrated expertise in strategic planning, budgeting, program management, and leadership of large teams.

Robert Dirk Cooper has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Aerospace Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, which they obtained from 1988 to 1992. Robert Dirk then pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in International Business from the University of South Carolina's Darla Moore School of Business, from 2008 to 2010. In 2017, they completed the Advanced Management Program (AMP) at Harvard Business School. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate in Project Management with AGILE and EVMS from Cornell University in 2019 and holds an Aviation Safety Officer Designation from the Naval Postgraduate School, which they completed before 1998.
