Karolina Kaminska

Associate Scientist at Ambagon Therapeutics

Karolina Kaminska, MS has a diverse work experience in the biochemistry and biophysics field. From 2015-2017, they worked as an Assistant Specialist in the Robert Stroud Laboratory at the University of California Biochemistry and Biophysics Department. During this time, they investigated integral membrane proteins from Mycobacterium tuberculosis for their putative roles in virulence and pathogenesis of active tuberculosis (TB). Karolina screened 240 protein targets for protein expression, detergent solubilization, and protein purification for biochemical and structural studies and achieved purification of promising targets using IMAC purification and size exclusion chromatography. From 2017-2018, they worked as a CIRM Internship Research Associate in the Barbara Panning Laboratory at the University of California Biochemistry and Biophysics Department. During this time, they investigated X chromosome inactivation in mouse embryonic stem cells, generated and characterized 20 cell lines targeting X linked genes with various fluorescent reporters, and performed CRISPR cas9 method, cloning, Gibson cloning, transfection, transformation, PCR, Western Blot, gel electrophoresis, and cell culture techniques on a daily basis. Most recently, from 2018-2022, they worked as a Research Associate II at NeuCyte, where they were responsible for routine maintenance and preparation of human neuronal cultures for assays, as well as compound testing using high-throughput multi-electrode array assay and assisting neuro electrophysiologists and scientists in assay development and automation.

Karolina Kaminska, MS has a diverse educational background. Karolina began their studies at University of Wroclaw in 2008, where they studied Medical University. In 2011, they obtained a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Università degli Studi di Firenze / University of Florence. In 2012, they achieved a C2 Level in Italian Language and Literature from Università per Stranieri di Siena. Karolina also obtained a B2 in German Language from Goethe Institut in Bayern. In 2014, they attained a Biotechnology Certificate from City College of San Francisco, which included training in Recombinant DNA Technology, Genetics Biomanufacturing, GMP GLP, and Mammalian Cell Stem Cells technology. In 2019, they completed a Harvard VPAL CRISPR: Gene-editing Applications online short course from Harvard University. Currently, they are pursuing a Master's degree in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics from Johns Hopkins University Advanced Academic Programs, which they are expected to complete in 2022.
