Shaun Flay has a strong background in catastrophe modeling and management. Shaun started their career as a Senior Analyst at Willis Re, where they worked on the Catastrophe Management Team from December 2006 to July 2011. Shaun then joined Aon Benfield as a Director of Catastrophe Modeling, where they managed renewals for clients across Asia and worked on projects related to non-modelled perils. In 2012, Shaun moved on to become Vice President of Catastrophe Modeling at Allied World Reinsurance Company. In this role, they managed a team responsible for producing catastrophe pricing and exposure accumulations for various regions, including Asia Pacific, the Middle East, and Africa. Shaun implemented a framework for reviewing exposure data and assumptions to ensure consistency and transparency in model outputs. Shaun has experience using RMS, AIR, and EQECAT software and has presented to clients on modeling outputs and exposure data management.
Shaun Flay obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Atmospheric Sciences and Meteorology from James Cook University. This educational journey took place from 2002 to 2006.
