Charles Stonehill is an experienced financial executive and director, with a wide range of experience in both the public and private sectors. Charles is currently an independent director at AllianceBernstein, and has previously served on the boards of Deutsche Börse, Equitable, and Play Magnus Group.
Stonehill began their career in the public sector, working as a financial analyst for the US Department of Treasury. Charles then transitioned to the private sector, holding various positions at companies such as Better Place, Julius Baer, and Green and Blue Advisors. In 2009, they became the CFO of Better Place, a position they held for two years before moving to Julius Baer.
At Julius Baer, Stonehill served as vice chairman and member of the board of directors. Charles was also a founding partner at Green and Blue Advisors. In 2015, they joined the board of directors at CommonBond.co, where they served for five years.
In 2016, Stonehill joined the board of directors at Play Magnus Group, where they have served for the past five years. During their time with the company, they have helped to build an online chess ecosystem through digital products such as the Play Magnus Chess apps, the playing / broadcasting platform Chess24, the digital publishing platform Chessable, and other educational, coaching, and competition events relating to Chess and to Magnus Carlsen.
