Liam Paninski is a Professor in the Statistics and Neuroscience departments, a member of the Center for Theoretical Neuroscience and the Kavli Institute for Brain Science, and the co-director of the Grossman Center for the Statistics of Mind and of the NeuroTechnology Center, all at Columbia University. He received his Ph.D. in 2003 from NYU's Center for Neural Science, where he was advised by Eero Simoncelli; next, he was a senior research fellow at the Gatsby Computational Neuroscience Unit, at University College London. He has received the Sloan Research Fellowship, the McKnight Scholar award, and the NSF CAREER award. His research focuses on the statistical analysis of large-scale neural data.
