Richard Julies currently serves as the Group Head of Legal, Compliance and Risk at Allan & Gill Gray Philanthropies, overseeing legal strategy, risk management, and regulatory compliance across several African countries since January 2022. Previously, Richard held the position of Group Head of Legal and Compliance at Orbis Investments for a year and served as Legal Counsel at Allan Gray Proprietary Limited from 2014 to 2021, where roles included Senior Legal Advisor and Legal Advisor. Earlier legal experience includes positions at ENSafrica from 2012 to 2014. Richard holds an MBA from Stellenbosch Business School and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) and Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Cape Town.
