Sam Fiorillo is the Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives and Rural Utilities within the Affordability and Utilities Ministry of the Government of Alberta, a position held since June 2022. Previously, Sam served as the Director of TIER Policy and Economics at Alberta Environment and Parks from May 2021 to June 2022, and acted as the Executive Director of Air and Climate Policy from March 2017 to May 2021. Other roles include Director of Industrial Climate Policy at the Alberta Climate Change Office, Executive Advisor to the Assistant Deputy Minister at Alberta Environment and Parks, and various analyst positions focusing on carbon offsets and carbon capture and storage. Sam holds a Bilingual Bachelor of Sciences in Environmental Conservation Sciences, Environmental Economics, and Policy from the University of Alberta, earned between 2005 and 2010.
