Fikre Debela is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in regulatory effectiveness and environmental science. Currently serving as the Manager of Regulatory Effectiveness & Sustainment at the Alberta Energy Regulator since September 2014, Fikre leads a team in implementing regulatory enhancements and modernization projects. Previous roles include Advisor for Regulatory Integration and Land Conservation and Reclamation Specialist at the Alberta Energy Regulator, as well as Soil and Reclamation Scientist at Golder Associates and Environmental Soil Scientist at AECOM. Fikre holds a PhD in Natural Resources and Environmental Studies from the University of Northern British Columbia, an M.Sc. in Soil Science from the University of Saskatchewan, and a B.Sc. in Agriculture (Plant Science) from Awassa College of Agriculture.
