Serena Gruia is an experienced public engagement professional currently serving as the Public Engagement Coordinator for Albemarle County since August 2019, where responsibilities include developing equitable community engagement initiatives and fostering relationships among County staff, stakeholders, and residents. Prior to this role, Serena was a Public Engagement Specialist focused on designing engagement strategies that enhance participation among community members and governmental departments. Serena founded Creative Might, emphasizing stakeholder engagement and participatory design, and served as Program Director at The Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative, managing programs and strategic planning. With a background as Creative Director at Alloy Workshop and a founder of Little Tree Press, combined with early experience as a Graphic Designer at Iguana Studios, Serena brings a diverse skill set in design, project management, and community involvement. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Urban Studies/Affairs from Virginia Tech and a certificate in Letterpress Printing from the Center for Book Arts.
