Karen H. has extensive experience in environmental management and marine safety, currently serving as the Environmental & Incident Response Manager and Safety, Quality & Environmental Advisor at Alaska Tanker Company since April 1999. Additionally, Karen is a member of the Board of Directors for both the Washington State Maritime Cooperative and the Maritime Fire and Safety Association. Prior experience includes a supervisory role at the Washington State Department of Ecology's Puget Sound Marine Safety Field Office and various positions within the United States Coast Guard, including Chief of Domestic Vessel Inspection and Chief of the Prevention Section. Karen holds a Master's degree in Naval Architecture/Marine Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Marine Science from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
