Shirley Farrell is an accomplished academic and education specialist with extensive experience in gifted education. Currently serving as an Associate Professor, Program Coordinator, and Assessment Co-Coordinator at Troy University since August 2023, Farrell previously held similar positions at Troy University in Montgomery starting in August 2017. In addition to academic roles, Farrell has been an Education Specialist for the Alabama Department of Education since October 2007 and has been involved with the Alabama Association for Gifted Children (AAGC) and the Education Enhancement Alliance of Alabama (EEAA) as a board member since the 1990s. Notably, Farrell served as President of EEAA for three years and contributed as the Yearbook Editor for the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International from 2001 to 2006. Earlier in the career, Farrell was a Gifted Specialist at Leeds Elementary School from 1993 to 2003. Shirley Farrell earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Instructional Leadership from The University of Alabama between 2009 and 2016.
