Guðmundur Hrafn Guðmundsson is a founder of Akthelia and a professor of Cell Biology in the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences at the University of Iceland.
He has worked on antimicrobial peptides and innate immunity for 25 years and has participated in many leading discoveries in the field. Among them is the discovery of the sole human cathelicidin and the antimicrobial peptide LL-37. Furthermore, he has worked on the expression of first-line defenses in health, inflammation, and infections. His current research includes signal pathways and gene regulation in innate immunity. His findings have been published in many leading international journals.
