Asanka Dissanayake has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Asanka began their career in 2010 as a Trainee Electrical Engineer at the Ceylon Electricity Board. Asanka then worked as a Trainee IT Engineer at SriLankan Airlines before transitioning to become a Temporary Visiting Instructor at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna in 2012. Asanka also freelanced as a Software Engineer from 2010 to 2013.

In 2013, Asanka joined WSO2 as a Software Engineer and later took on the role of Senior Software Engineer. Asanka worked on various projects until 2016. During this time, they also served as a Visiting Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Ruhuna.

In 2016, Asanka joined Fidelity Investments as a Senior Full Stack Engineer before being promoted to Principal Full Stack Engineer in 2017. Asanka concluded their tenure at Fidelity Investments as the Director of Software Engineering in October 2020.

Finally, in 2020, Asanka joined Akoya as the Director of Software Engineering.

From 2008 to 2013, Asanka attended the University of Ruhuna and earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a specialization in Electrical and Information Engineering.

During the same period, from 2008 to 2012, Asanka also obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Engineering with the same specialization from the University of Ruhuna.

From 1999 to 2007, Asanka attended Badulla Central College in Badulla, but no degree or field of study is mentioned for this period.

In 2019, Asanka enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and completed a Master's degree in Computer Science and Data Science. The duration of this program is not specified, but it is assumed that they completed it within the range of 2019 to 2021.
