Janick Rüegger has a diverse work experience in the software engineering field. Currently, they are working as a Senior Software Engineer at akenza.io since March 2023. Prior to this, they were employed at Swisscom from February 2020 to September 2021, where they worked as a DevOps Engineer. During their time at Swisscom, they developed automated and secure recurring updates for critical network devices and introduced a unified interface for network data. Before that, from August 2019 to January 2020, Janick worked as a Software Engineer (Swiss Civilian Service) at Kantonsspital Aarau AG. Here, they reduced patient exposure to radiation by providing open-source software in medical imaging and introduced DevOps principles and tools to the project. In addition, they also worked as a Software Engineer Blockchain (Intern) at Swisscom Blockchain from April 2018 to July 2019, where they evaluated Atomic Cross-Chain Swaps and built a custody solution for Ethereum. Lastly, Janick worked at Swisscom from May 2017 to March 2018 in various roles, including Project Lead (Intern), Backend Engineer (Intern), and Web Developer (Intern). In these roles, they initiated and led an intrapreneurship initiative, built parts of the backend for a chat application, and designed and built multiple web applications.

Janick Rüegger attended the Fernfachhochschule Schweiz from 2015 to 2019, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Computer Science. Following this, they enrolled at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW in 2020 and is expected to graduate in 2023 with a Master of Engineering in Computer Science (MSE CS) degree. During their education, they focused on Computer Science as their major field of study, with a minor in Data Science. In 2017, Janick Rüegger obtained the IREB CPRE FL certification, which stands for Certified Professional for Requirements Engineering Foundation Level, from the IREB GmbH.
