Carles G. began their career in 2016 as a Software Engineer at CERN for the TOTEM experiment in the Large Hadron Collider. During this time, they developed a new component in C++ to control the data acquisition system and wrote a report on the project. The following year, they worked as a Network Engineer on projects for improving the data center network. This included evaluating the implementation of a new network architecture, benchmarking new high-end routers of different vendors, and developing a Python tool to generate router configuration. In 2018, Carles G. returned to CERN as a Software Engineer and worked on the development of the File Transfer Service for the computing grid. This included integrating OpenID Connect as an authentication alternative to X.509 certificates and setting up Gitlab Continuous Integration pipelines for automatic testing, static code analysis, building, and deployment. In 2020, Carles G. joined Volta Networks as a Software Engineer and worked on the management plane of the first cloud-native router. Carles developed the CLI and backend with Python and gRPC. Most recently, Carles G. started working at Aiven in 2021 as a Senior Software Engineer in the Release Engineering team. Theirresponsibilities include developing a Continuous Integration (CI) system, creating developer tools in Python, and monitoring CI and engineering metrics using SQL.
Carles G. obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Informatics Engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in 2018, after studying Information Technologies from 2013 to 2018. In December 2018, Carles G. also obtained a Juniper Networks Certified Associate (JNCIA-Junos) certification from Juniper Networks.
