Sergio Urrego is an accomplished executive and academic with extensive experience in biotechnology and organic chemistry. Currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer and founder of aitia biotech, Sergio has previously held roles such as Director of Bioprocesses at Iluma Alliance and Executive Director at PROGAL BT, where contributions focused on the development and commercialization of biotechnological products derived from Colombian biodiversity. Additionally, Sergio has served as a lecturer in organic chemistry and physical chemistry at Universidad EAFIT and has conducted research on the extraction and identification of plant sapogenins. Sergio holds two Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Chemistry and Biotechnology from Universidad de Antioquía and a degree in Process Engineering from Universidad Escuela de Administración y Finanzas y Tecnologías.
