Haris Ghinos has a diverse work experience spanning several industries and roles. Haris started their career in 1985 as a Conference Interpreter for the European Commission and later worked as a Freelance Conference Interpreter for the European Parliament. In 1992, they took on the role of Assistant Project Manager at Browning Ferries Industries-Environmental Capital Holdings, where they played a key role in promoting municipal waste management technology. In 1996, Haris became the General Manager of the Greek subsidiary of Chemical Safety International, where they focused on promoting environmental management software. In 2004, they joined AIIC - The International Association of Conference Interpreters as a Consultant Interpreter and later became a Vice President. Haris also became a Member of Calliope Interpreters. In 2008, they founded ELIT Language Services, a leading Language Services Provider, where they serve as the Managing Partner and Consultant Interpreter. Haris pioneered Distance interpreting for high-end clients in the Conference interpreting industry and operates the Athens Interpreting Hub. Additionally, Haris has been a Project Leader at the International Organization for Standardization since 2018.
Haris Ghinos has a diverse education history spanning multiple fields of study and institutions. Haris obtained a B.Sc. degree in Physics from Ethnikon kai Kapodistriakon Panepistimion Athinon from 1979 to 1984. In 1982-1984, they pursued a Diploma in Translation from Institut français d’Athènes. Haris also completed a program in Consecutive and Simultaneous Interpretation from the European Commission, Service Commun Interpretation Conferences in 1985. From 1987 to 1988, Haris Ghinos pursued an M.A. degree in War Studies from King's College London. In 1989-1990, they studied International Politics and obtained a Maitrise degree from Université libre de Bruxelles. In 2002-2003, they attended Athens University of Economics and Business where they received a Certificate of Post Graduate Studies in Finance. Additionally, in October 2004, they became a member of the International Association of Conference Interpreters, obtaining certification from AIIC - The International Association of Conference Interpreters.
